Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, met with a youth delegation from the Armenian Church in Bethlehem, headed by Superior of the Armenian Church in Bethlehem, Fr. Asbed Balian, on the occasion of Armenian Christmas.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Varsen Aghabekian, and the Mayor of Bethlehem, Maher Qanawati, and came within the framework of strengthening communication between the Higher Presidential Committee and members of the Armenian Church, as well as discussing ways to support the religious and cultural activities organized by the Church, particularly during the holy days season.
During the meeting, Dr. Khouri affirmed the Committee’s commitment to supporting Armenian Christian events and activities in Bethlehem and to enhancing the participation of members of the Armenian Church in religious and community events.
For his part, Fr. Asbed Balian expressed his appreciation for the meeting, stressing its importance in enhancing communication and cooperation with the Committee.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Manuel Hassassian; member of the Committee Dr. Khouloud Daibes; Director of the Committee’s Office in Bethlehem, Jihad Khair; Director of Public Relations and Media, Raed Hanania; as well as the head of the Armenian Scouts Group in Jerusalem (Homenetmen), Hagop Djeranazian.
