Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs in Palestine, Dr, Ramzi Khouri attend the Christmas midnight mass at the Armenian Church in Bethlehem, on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas.
The Mass, held at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, was presided over by Archbishop Sevan Garabedian, the head of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, with the participation of bishops, priests, and deacons. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Bethlehem, Anton Salman, the Acting Governor of Bethlehem, Mr. Mohammed Taha, and the Head of Bethlehem Police, Colonel Mohammed Abu Al-Rob, along with several political and religious figures and members of the Armenian community.
In his speech, Dr. Khouri conveyed greetings and well-wishes from President Mahmoud Abbas to all members of the Armenian community. He expressed concern about the pain experienced by our Palestinian people due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, targeting civilians, especially children, women, and the elderly, as well as the targeting of mosques and churches that became a place of shelter for thousands of displaced Palestinians. Dr. Khouri called on all countries to work towards an immediate ceasefire and the protection of human lives.
Dr. Khouri highlighted the harsh conditions faced by the Palestinian people in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem in direct violations of international law. Dr. Khouri prayed for peace, justice, the fulfillment of the aspirations of our Palestinian people for freedom, independence, and the establishment of our Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem. He concluded his speech with prayers for the martyrs, healing for the wounded, and freedom for the prisoners held by the occupation.
