The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Milad Fatouleh on being awarded the Cross of Saint Cataldo by the Cathedral of San Cataldo in Taranto, Italy. The honor was conferred by Bishop Monsignor Ciro Miniero and Father Monsignor Emanuele Ferro.
Member of the PLO Executive Committee and head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri praised this significant international recognition of a Palestinian figure devoted to promoting the message of the Church and the values of love, peace, and service.
The Cross of Saint Cataldo, also known as the “Little Cross,” is one of the highest spiritual symbols awarded by the Cathedral. It is presented annually during May festivities in honor of Saint Cataldo, the patron saint of Taranto, to individuals deemed “Friends of the Cathedral.” These include laypersons, clergy, and public figures who have made meaningful contributions to the Church and their communities.
This medal is a golden replica of the original cross discovered in 1071 within the tomb of Saint Cataldo, an artifact that played a key role in identifying the saint’s remains and has since become a sacred symbol of the Cathedral.
The Committee emphasized that this recognition not only honors Mr. Fatouleh but also reflects broader international appreciation for Palestinians who carry the message of the Holy Land into global forums. The Committee affirmed that this honor serves as a renewed call to persist in the pursuit of justice and peace.
