Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs Warns of Grave Consequences of Violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Demands Immediate International Protection

The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine issued a warning regarding the serious and escalating violations taking place in the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. These provocative acts, carried out by extremist settlers under the pretext of the so-called “Temple Destruction Anniversary,” are being led by the far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and are taking place under the full protection of the Israeli occupation forces and police.

In a statement released by the Committee’s Chairman, Dr. Ramzi Khouri – member of the PLO Executive Committee – the Committee expressed its unequivocal condemnation of these dangerous violations. It urgently called for immediate Arab, Islamic, and international intervention to halt these actions before they further destabilize the status of Al-Aqsa as an exclusive Muslim place of worship and fuel unpredictable repercussions for regional and international peace and security.

The Committee emphasized that these transgressions, which include religious rituals, prayers, and the raising of Israeli flags within the mosque compound, are taking place with official Israeli endorsement. The full responsibility lies with the extremist settler-led Israeli government, headed by Netanyahu, Smotrich, and Ben Gvir, which openly supports and protects these actions in pursuit of its broader agenda to Judaize the holy site.

The Committee issued a global appeal to churches and religious institutions around the world to raise their voices and take decisive stances against these escalating and dangerous violations. Such actions not only threaten the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque but also undermine the status of all religious sites – Christian and Muslim alike – that are considered protected under international law and sacred across all faith traditions.
