His Excellency Dr. Ramzi Khoury, President of the Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs, Director General of the Palestinian National Fund and a number of members of the Committee, as well as officials and several public figures attended the Military funeral ceremony to farewell the late Major General William Nassar.
It is worth mentioning that Nassar was one of the pioneers of the national movement and a fighter who gave his life and years to defend the Palestinian cause and its justice. He enrolled in a military training in the People’s Republic of China and then returned to the occupied territories to resist the occupation until his arrest in 1968. He was imprisoned for 12 years and later released at the Larnaca airport in Cyprus on the 22nd February 1980, in an exchange between the PLO and the Israeli government. He also held a number of positions, in addition to his literary achievements, the most prominent of which is “Taghribat bani fateh”.
