Committee members meet with the Coptic Archbishop in Jerusalem.

On Friday morning, the Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs met with Archbishop Antonios of the  Coptic church in Jerusalem, at his residence in the Old City.

In the meeting the committee pointed out the importance of the Christian presence in the holy Land, in light of the fierce attack by the occupying government to Judaize the city and the attempts of the Israeli government to empty the city from its original inhabitants.

 The Committee listened attentively to all obstacles the Coptic Church is facing in Jerusalem, and promised to work and help overcome them by reassuring the importance of the Coptic presencefor the Palestinian Christian Church and the need to preserve the mosaic formed by the Palestinian people with its Christians and Muslims. The meeting was attended by a number of members of the Committee, Mr. Nabil Mashhour. Mr. Issa Kassissieh, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Vatican, the General Manager of the Committee, Ambassador Amira Hanania. Father bishoy . Mr. Abdallah Syam, Deputy  to the Palestinian Governor of East Jerusalem and Mrs. Mona Al-Ansari, Public Relations director of the Jerusalem Unit in the President’s office.
