Dr. Ramzi Khoury, President of the Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs in the State of Palestine, condemned the attack carried out by a settler against the Romanian Orthodox Church in occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement issued to the press on Thursday: “The continued impunity for settler aggressors and Jewish extremists for their attacks on Islamic and Christian places of worship in the city of Jerusalem in particular, heralds a religious war with harsh consequences that will spare no one, especially with the provision of the Israeli occupation forces.
Since the beginning of the Israeli occupation, we Christians and Muslims, united together have faced these attacks and violations of our sanctities, and we will continue to confront them”.
Dr. Khoury added, “We call on the ecclesiastical institutions and the relevant international institutions to take charge and deterrent positions against those who are trying to drag the region into a religious conflict.
The occupying power is fully responsible for the escalation of these assaults on our churches and mosques in Jerusalem and in the various occupied Palestinian territories.
These Crimes will not stop the steadfast people of Palestine from defending our Islamic and Christian sanctities.”
Dr.Khoury addressed the world by saying: “The sanctity of our churches and mosques in Palestine is violated, the legacy of our ancestors is defiled, and the cradle of Christ and the course of Prophet Muhammad is being brutalized. We want an effective action from youand the international community to intervene and put an end to these ongoing violations”.
