The Higher Presidential Committee of Churches affairs – Ben Gvir’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque Implementation of his government’s racist policy.

The Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs in Palestine condemned the extremist Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque today, under the protection of the occupation forces. It also condemned his desecration of Muslim sanctities and provocation of their feelings, in a scene that expresses the arrogance of the occupation force, which is led by an extremist, racist, religious government.

The committee confirmed in a statement issued by its chairman, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Dr. Ramzi Khoury, that this criminal act of the racist minister Ben Gvir in attacking the sanctities of our people in the city of Jerusalem and his attempt to impose a fait accompli expresses a policy adopted by the extremist racist government of Israel, which bears sole responsibility for the escalation and explosion of the situation.

The committee warned against the continued international and institutional silence on this escalatory policy through which the occupation government is trying to prejudice the existing religious, historical and legal status of the holy places of our people, foremost of which is Al-Aqsa Mosque.

However, this is a flagrant violation of international law and covenants that forbid attacking sanctities and criminalize attempting to violate them, as is the case with the mighty Israeli extremists led by the Israeli occupation government in an effort to Judaize Al-Aqsa Mosque and impose its division spatially and temporally.

It also appealed to the churches of the whole world and all believers to denounce these criminal acts, which are no longer confined to extremist settler groups, but have become an official policy practiced by the occupation government against Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem. The committee called also for stopping the policy of this extremist government, which is trying to drag the region into a religious war, as no one will be spared from its consequences.

The committee said that the time has come for the UN Security Council to take action and assume its responsibilities by providing international protection for the Palestinian people and their Islamic and Christian sanctities, and to stop all blatant violations committed by the occupation forces against them and to grant the palestinian people all their rights for freedom and independence in their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, with Islamic and Christian sanctities, in accordance with the international legitimacy.
