Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, and accompanying delegation met with the Syriac Orthodox Archbishop in the Holy Land, Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, and representatives of Syriac associations and institutions.
Khouri extended warm greetings and festive wishes from His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the State of Palestine, on the occasion of Christmas, to Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II of Antioch and the East and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, and all members of the Syriac Church in Palestine and around the world.
In response, Archbishop Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub conveyed that the Church deeply feels the pain caused by the ongoing loss of innocent lives and the destruction of infrastructure. He added that the Church prays for an end to the war and the realization of a just and comprehensive peace. He expressed hope that the coming year would mark the beginning of achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state.
