The Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs in Palestine Mourns Former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dries van Agt

The Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs mourns the tragic loss of Dries van Agt, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, who passed away on February 9th, at the age of 93.
Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri expressed his heartfelt condolences, stating, “We mourn the passing of Dries van Agt, a person known for integrity and courage, who has taken a principled position in support of the Palestinian cause.” He added, “His support for Palestine, his dedication and commitment to achieving peace and freedom for the Palestinian people will be remembered.”
In recognition of his longstanding support for Palestinian rights, Dries van Agt was awarded the ‘Grand Star – Order of Jerusalem’ by presidential degree of President Mahmoud Abbas in 2021. The Committee, acknowledging his enduring commitments, also honored him as well. He was the founder The Rights Forum, an organization advocating for Palestinian rights and calling for a just and sustainable Dutch and European policy towards the Question of Palestine. Dries van Agt is the author of a book titled “An uprising against injustice, and the tragedy of the Palestinian People.”
