President Abbas receives Archbishop of New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan

President Mahmoud Abbas tonight received the Archbishop of New York City in the United States and the President of the Pontifical Mission in the World, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and his accompanying delegation at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

President Abbas welcomed the Cardinal and conveyed his greetings to Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican, appreciating his positions calling for stopping the Israeli aggression and achieving peace and stability in the Holy Lands and the world.

The President praised the position of the Catholic Church towards the Palestinian people and their just cause, its permanent role in supporting the achievement of peace and freedom for the Palestinian people, and the role of the Pontifical mission in Palestine, which serves the entire Palestinian community and contributes to providing it with the best service.

He stressed the importance of cooperation between the Archdiocese of New York City and the Palestinian-American Council, especially regarding issues of common interest, most notably supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.

For his part, Cardinal Dolan conveyed the greetings of the Pope to President Abbas, praising his role and wise leadership in enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights supported by the Catholic Church.

He highlighted the importance of visiting the Holy Land and celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Pontifical mission in Palestine.
