Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, attended the Holy Thursday Masses the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the Church of the Virgin Mary in Beit Jala, and the Forefathers Church in Beit Sahour.
During his visit to Beit Sahour, Dr. Khouri met with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Hani Al-Hayek, and the mayor of Beit Sahour, Dr. Elias Eseed, alongside representatives of Orthodox associations and institutions in the city.
Emphasizing the vital importance of fostering unity and collaboration among all institutions and associations, Dr. Khouri underscored the imperative of solidifying the presence of Palestinian Christians in their ancestral lands, strengthening their resilience and reducing emigration.
Dr. Khouri shed light on the relentless efforts of Israel to uproot Palestinians, particularly evident in the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing genocide. He pointed out to the oppressive measures and severe restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities in the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem, including restrictions on the freedom of worship, in addition to settlement expansions and settler attacks targeting Churches and their properties and Palestinian civilians as well.
Welcoming Dr. Khouri’s visit, both Father Issa Musleh and the Mayor of Beit Sahour, Elias Eseed expressed their gratitude, commending the invaluable contributions of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in serving the community and the Church.
