Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri and accompanying delegation held a meeting with the Bishop of Copenhagen, Peter Skov-Jakobsen, during an official visit to Denmark.
The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine informed the bishop about the serious situation in Palestine, and called for stronger cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Khouri highlighted the profound challenges and suffering endured by the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. He stressed the urgency of addressing Palestinian priorities, including taking immediate action to end Israel’s aggression on Gaza, reaching a ceasefire, delivering humanitarian aid and advancing a political solution on the grounds of justice.
Dr. Khouri noted that this is essential for achieving a just and comprehensive peace, founded on the principles of a two-state solution formula and ending the decades-long Israeli occupation. Such measures would guarantee security and stability in the region.
Mr. Skov-Jakobsen agreed on the two-state solution and stressed the need to express the positions in a diplomatic language due to the high-tension situation and to secure a counter-conflict environment for the necessity of hope, peace and justice.
Dr. Khouri was accompanied by members of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Amira Hanania and Dr. Omar Awadallah and Palestine’s ambassador to Denmark Manuel Hassasian.
