Khouri Meets with Church Leaders and Representatives of Christian Institutions During Official Visit to Denmark

Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, met with Church leaders and representatives of Christian institutions in Denmark, that included Bishop Czeslaw Kozon, Roman Catholic Bishop of Copenhagen, Bishop Peter Skov-Jakobsen, Lutheran Bishop of Copenhagen, Dr. Emil Hilton, Secretary General of the National Council of Churches in Denmark, and Jonas Vejsgar, Secretary General of the Danish Church Aid (DCA).

Both parties discussed the status of Palestinian Christians, the latest political development and Israel’s aggression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, which has been inflicting pain and suffering upon the Palestinian people for over 76 years.

Khouri emphasized the important role that Churches play in influencing public policies, particularly their mission to promote human values, peace, and justice. He urged the Church leaders and representatives to push for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid and an end to the forced displacement of the Palestinians. The meeting also explored avenues of potential cooperation.

This visit is part of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine’s effort to garner support for the Palestinian cause, recognizing the significant influence wielded by churches in shaping government policies.

Khouri was accompanied by members of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Amira Hanania and Dr. Omar Awadallah and Palestine’s ambassador to Denmark, Manuel Hassassian.
