On the occasion of the Islamic New Year, the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in the State of Palestine wishes the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, freedom, peace, security, and prosperity.
Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, issued a statement urging the international community, its institutions, and churches to make urgent and serious efforts to end the ongoing suffering of our people caused by the Israeli occupation. The Committee called for an end to the genocidal war, starvation, and displacement affecting our people in Gaza, as well as an end to the killings, arrests, siege, and oppression faced by our people in various cities, villages, and camps, particularly in Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites.
The Committee stressed the importance of honoring the martyrs of our people, ensuring quick recovery for the wounded, and working towards the freedom of prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails. The Committee hopes that the Islamic New Year will mark the beginning of justice, dignity, and peace for all the people in the region.
