Dr. Ramzi Khouri, member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, met with His Eminence Bishop Timotheos, the representative of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem in Cyprus.
During the meeting, Khouri conveyed warm regards from President Mahmoud Abbas and provided an update on the current situation and latest developments in Palestine. He highlighted the severe hardships endured by the Palestinian people in Gaza, now 10 months into Israel’s ongoing genocide. Khouri also addressed the alarming rise in violent attacks by extremist settlers targeting Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, as well as the continued violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites.
Khouri stressed the urgent need for international action to end the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid, and intensify diplomatic efforts to achieve a just solution that fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people for an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting was also attended by Mousa Hadid and Omar Awadallah, members of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, along with Archimandrite Elias Awad of the Greek Orthodox Church in Ramallah, and Father Emmanuel Awwad.
