The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine Calls for the Protection of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Occasion of the Prophet’s Birth

On the occasion of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine calls for the protection and defense Al-Aqsa Mosque, the site of the Prophet’s night journey and ascension. Al-Aqsa Mosque holds profound spiritual significance values for billions of Muslims and must be safeguarded from Israel’s attempts to Judaize and exert control over it.

In a press release Dr. Ramzi Khouri, member of the PLO executive committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, emphasized the imperative of protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque, and upholding its status and sanctity in the face of ongoing threats, which also threatens Jerusalem and its Christian holy sites as well.

The committee highlighted that the celebration of the birth of the Prophet, a symbol of mercy, humanity, and justice for all, serves as a testament to the unity and determination of our people, both Muslims and Christians, in their struggle for their land and holy sites. This celebration also reflects the resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli occupation’s policies and settler terrorism.

The committee noted that this year’s commemoration comes at a time when our people are enduring severe hardship—extermination, famine, and displacement in Gaza, and violence, destruction, arrest, and persecution in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem. It calls on individuals, nations, and institutions to stand against this injustice and put an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people, who have long been denied justice.

The committee hopes that the upcoming anniversaries bring about the realization of our people’s aspirations for return and freedom in their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. It also wishes for peace and security to prevail for the Arab, Muslim, and global communities.
