Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, conducted a series of meetings during a visit to the Bethlehem Governorate. Accompanying Dr. Khouri were committee members Dr. Samir Hazboun, Dr. Khouloud Daibes, Jihad Khair, and the Director of Public Relations and Media, Raed Hanania.
As part of the visit, Dr. Khouri met with the Governor of Bethlehem, Muhammad Taha Abu Alia, and his team to discuss preliminary preparations for welcoming church leaders and patriarchs during the upcoming Christmas celebrations. The delegation also held a meeting with His Eminence Metropolitan Benedictos, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Representative in Bethlehem.
The delegation visited the Arab Society Hospital in Beit Jala, where they were received by the hospital’s director, Mr. Elie Shehadeh, and administrative staff. The delegation was briefed on the hospital’s vital healthcare services and its role in supporting the local community.
Additionally, the delegation visited the Arab Orthodox Benevolent Society and met with its president, Imad Nour, along with members of the administrative board. The meeting was attended by Beit Jala Mayor Issa Qassis. During the meeting, the society’s leadership highlighted its community-oriented services, which aim to ease the financial burdens on citizens, especially amid challenging economic conditions.
This visit underscored the committee’s commitment to supporting institutions and organizations that play a pivotal role in serving the community and preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of the region.
