Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, represented President Mahmoud Abbas at the Christmas Mass of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. Bishop Sani Ibrahim Azar and Reverend Dr. Munther Isaac officiated the service.
In his sermon, Bishop Azar reflected on the immense suffering endured by the people of Gaza, including the loss of tens of thousands of innocent lives, the destruction of homes and infrastructure, and the displacement of the Palestinian people. He likened the resilience of the Palestinian people to the steadfastness of Jesus Christ, leading up to the crucifixion. On this holy occasion, he offered prayers for justice, freedom, and independence for the Palestinian people.
Following the mass, the committee delegation lit candles and placed them at the nativity scene, embodying hope that the light of salvation and peace would shine upon the world, especially upon the Palestinian people in their pursuit of liberation and justice.
Dr. Khouri was accompanied by committee members Amira Hanania, Jihad Khair, and the Director of Public Relations, Raed Hanania.
