Dr. Ramzi Khouri, Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, joined in welcoming a group of children from Gaza who arrived in Italy to receive medical treatment.
The children were received in Rome by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, along with the Vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land, Father Ibrahim Faltas. Dr. Khouri praised Italy’s steadfast humanitarian support for the Palestinian people, commending its initiative to provide medical care for 14 children suffering from injuries and cancer, along with their families.
Khouri emphasized that this initiative underscores Italy’s deep commitment to humanitarian causes, particularly amid the dire conditions faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza due to the ongoing Israeli war. He expressed his gratitude to Father Ibrahim Faltas for spearheading the effort to secure treatment for the children and to the Italian government for its coordination with the Palestinian leadership, reflecting strong humanitarian cooperation.
Father Ibrahim Faltas also extended his appreciation to the Italian hospitals that have consistently welcomed Palestinian children over the past year, ensuring they receive medical care. He lauded their swift and ongoing commitment to humanitarian and healthcare collaboration; especially given the immense suffering the Palestinian people have endured.
Italy has previously provided medical treatment for patients and children from Gaza as part of its unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
