Dr. Ramzi Khouri, member of the PLO Executive Committee and head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, extends his warmest congratulations to Bishop Iyad Akram Twal on his episcopal ordination and appointment as the Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan, by a papal decree of His Holiness Pope Francis.
The ordination ceremony took place on Friday morning at the Church of the Baptism of Christ (Al-Maghtas) at the Baptism Site in Jordan, during a solemn pontifical Mass led by His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. The event was attended by patriarchal vicars, bishops from various Christian denominations, clergy members, monks, nuns, and a large congregation of believers.
On this joyous occasion, Dr. Khouri underscored the Church’s profound spiritual and national role, emphasizing that Bishop Twal’s ordination embodies Palestine’s enduring message of love and peace.
