Khouri Congratulates the New Apostolic Nuncio to Jerusalem, Emphasizes the Importance of Cooperation and Working for Peace

Dr. Ramzi Khouri, Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, met with the newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Jerusalem, Archbishop Giorgio Lingua, the Apostolic Delegat to the State of Palestine. Dr. Khouri congratulated Archbishop Lingua on the commencement of his new mission and wished him every success in his ecclesiastical and diplomatic responsibilities.

Dr. Khouri reaffirmed the importance of the historic relationship between the State of Palestine and the Holy See, emphasizing the Higher Presidential Committee’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with churches and religious institutions around the world. He underscored the importance of working together to advance peace and justice, safeguard the Palestinian Christian presence, and preserve the unique spiritual and historical character of the Holy Land. Both sides also agreed on the importance of maintaining close communication and coordination while further expanding avenues of cooperation in support of shared objectives.

For his part, Archbishop Giorgio Lingua expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs and affirmed his commitment to continuing cooperation in advancing the message of peace.

The meeting was attended by Fr. Ibrahim Faltas, representing the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land; Monsignor Nicola Buxio, Deputy Head of the Apostolic Delegation in Jerusalem; Dr. Samir Hazboun, member of the Higher Presidential Committee; and Amira Hanania, the Committee’s representative in Europe.
