In the presence of Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, and with His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi presiding over the Divine Liturgy, member of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Anton Helo, represented Dr. Ramzi Khouri, Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Committee, at the Mass for the dedication of the altar of Blessed Patriarchs Mar Estephan Douaihy and Mar Elias Hoayek.
The Mass was celebrated at Saint George Maronite Cathedral in Beirut, in the presence of a number of prominent religious and official figures, as well as a large gathering of members of the Church.
The Committee’s participation in the Mass reflects its commitment to strengthening communication and ties with churches in Lebanon, while reaffirming the deep ecclesial and national bonds that unite the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. It also underscores the importance of the Christian presence and its historic role in the region.
Blessed Patriarchs Mar Estephan Douaihy and Mar Elias Hoayek are among the most prominent figures in the history of the Maronite Church, having made significant religious and national contributions in service of the Church and society.
