The Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs condemns the burning of the house of the Zablah family in Bethlehem and calls for averting sedition.

The Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs in Palestine strongly condemned the burning of the house of the Zablah family in the city of Bethlehem, which led to the complete destruction of its contents, calling for the law to take its course andachieve justice in this case and others.

In a statement by Dr. Ramzi Khoury, “These acts do not represent neither our Palestinian society nor our Islamic-Christian unity of which we are proud of, and which must be preserved and defended.

The committee stressed the need to be vigilant and to confront any suspicious attempts that distort the Palestinian unity and steadfastness, especially in times where we are united together heroically in defense of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, in Silwan, in the Bustan neighborhood and in Jabal Sbeh, where Palestinian homes are being demolished and people are being displaced by the occupying power.

The committee called on everyone to exercise restraint against the promoters of strife that are trying to destabilize the community, which would weaken our solidity in the face of the occupation, which has been stirring these strife to serve its goals in undermining the unity and struggle of our people.

Islamic and Christian religious symbols are sacred to all of us Muslims and Christians, and should not be exploited or used for any reason, and their sanctity and religious symbolism should not be compromised. We condemn and reject such acts, which are very far from our national, social and religious values.
