A delegation from the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine presented Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Mustafa with a comprehensive dossier today, detailing key issues related to the Christian community. The document outlines ongoing issues the committee is actively addressing, including church affairs, Christian civil institutions, and broader national matters tied to the historical Christian presence in Palestine.
The meeting, held as part of sustained efforts to strengthen cooperation between the committee and state institutions, aimed to support the protection of ecclesiastical rights and preserve the religious and cultural heritage of Bethlehem and other Palestinian areas.
During the meeting, participants emphasized the need for a unified national vision aligned with the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas, one that upholds religious diversity and reinforces the Christian community’s integral role in the Palestinian national fabric.
The discussion also led to an agreement to bolster coordination and follow-up mechanisms between the committee and the Prime Minister’s Office. This cooperation is expected to ensure the effective implementation of the dossier’s recommendations and proposals, with a focus on practical steps that safeguard and strengthen the Christian presence in both the present and the future.
The meeting included representatives from both the ecclesiastical and civil sectors of the Christian community. In attendance were the Governor of Bethlehem, Mr. Mohammad Taha Abu Alia; representatives of the Bethlehem churches; the mayors of Bethlehem, Beit Sahour, and Beit Jala; and members of the Higher Presidential Committee, including Dr. Samir Hazboun, Dr. Khouloud Daibes, Director of the Bethlehem Office Jihad Khair, and Director of Public Relations and Media Raed Hanania.
