Member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, participated on Wednesday in the signing ceremony of two grant agreements provided by the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to finance two strategic development projects for Bethlehem Municipality. The ceremony was attended by a broad official and public audience.
The agreements come within the framework of Palestinian-Korean cooperation and ongoing efforts to support sustainable development in Palestine. They include the establishment of the Bethlehem Entrepreneurship Center, which aims to foster innovation, support entrepreneurial initiatives, and create new economic opportunities for young people. The second project focuses on strengthening Palestine’s crisis and disaster response capacity through support for and equipping the Palestinian Civil Defense, contributing to enhanced preparedness and more effective emergency response.
Dr. Khouri underscored the importance of these projects for the city of Bethlehem, given its national, cultural, and international significance. He stressed that investing in institutional development and capacity building constitutes a fundamental pillar for advancing sustainable development and serving the residents of the governorate.
He also praised the strong bilateral relations between the State of Palestine and the Republic of Korea, expressing his appreciation for Korea’s continued support for development initiatives that contribute to improving public services and promoting economic and social development across the Palestinian governorates.
During the ceremony, Dr. Khouri also extended his congratulations to the Mayor of Bethlehem and the newly elected Municipal Council, wishing them success in carrying out their responsibilities. He emphasized the vital role of the municipality in serving the people of Bethlehem, advancing the city’s development, and preserving its national, historical, and cultural standing.
Accompanying Dr. Khouri at the event were members of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Kholoud Daibes and Jihad Khair, along with the Committee’s Director of Public Relations and Media, Raed Hanania.
