Dr. Hanna Issa, Secretary-General of the Islamic-Christian Commission in support of Jerusalem and holy sites, said, “State concept combines the power and sovereignty that give the state policy legitimacy and solemnity, which makes individuals obey its authority and respect the prestige of the law.”
He pointed out, “Presumably every political entity should judge people with justice and equals between their fortunes and their rights as to make every single one of them ready to give up his absolute freedom and right for the freedom and rights of the legitimacy of the law.”
He noted, “While political power turns out to be an obsession, and sovereignty turns to violence or excessive force, the legitimacy is obviated and the state in every society turns into a strange entity that produces political alienation more than it responds to the aspirations of individuals for a congenital life and values.” Pointing out that the state should be a legal and legitimate deterrent among people in order not to turn into an authoritarian rule trampling the rights freedoms.
He indicated that, “The transition from the level of individual, personal and partial existence, to the level of political and civil presence is a requirement which is achieved by the presence of man, and leads to a social, civilian and politician system within which human liberation from natural necessity to enter the field of social necessity is achieved”.
He continued, ” This social necessity is defined in the need of co-existence within rules and requirements that make coexistence an incentive for humanitarian meeting, not a burden which the individual should tolerated against his will, however, to ensure co-existence the availability of an authority that is able to organize and sponsor the coexistence is required, meaning the fixation of components that make coexistence a requirement, not a burden.”
He explained, “Ensuring the co-existence is about the need for authority of public affairs theme, and this means, to reconcile different interests, sometimes the contradictory between individuals. However, this difference in interests, regardless of determining its justifications at this level, leads to the need for a dispute. A dispute is not about personal interests but it’s about diversity of individuals in determining how to organize public affairs and manage them.”
